My name is Emily Applebaum and I have been a dental hygienist since 2017. I was born in Chile (Hablo un poco de espanol), moved to Oklahoma as a baby, then spent most of my life in Florida. I graduated as Vice President of my dental hygiene class at Broward College in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and shortly moved to Chicago, Illinois where I started my hygiene career.

I have high standards for myself and the work I do. I value my on-going education in the dental field and enjoy sharing what I have learned with my patients. Thanks to Dr. Smith and Dr. Javia, I am a part of Arizona Perio’s dental hygiene study club, which allows me to work with other hygienists and learn what’s new and exciting in dentistry. For the patients who don’t already know me, I’m kind of a dental nerd. I love educating my patients on how to better take care of their oral health! I love motivating and helping people do better. It brings me so much joy having patients report back with how they have taken my advice on brushing or flossing and have improved their homecare. I love a good before and after; seeing improvements means I’m doing my job well, but I won’t take all the credit…It’s teamwork!

When I’m not at the office, you can find me playing golf, going on hikes, or reading a book for my book club, among other fun activities. My husband, Alex, and I claimed Scottsdale as our home at the end of 2020. We have two Golden Retrievers, Rusty and Poppy, and the adventures continue!
